The most delicious coconut water is organic Kokovita
Coconut water is not the same as coconut milk
Coconut water is naturally created in the coconut and is made up of 93 to 98 percent water with extremely little fat. Coconut water should not be confused with coconut milk, which is made from tap water together with grated and finely ground coconut flesh. Coconut milk contains anywhere between 10 and 50 percent fat from the coconut, depending on how much tap water is added. It takes 10 to 12 months for a coconut to fully ripen, and coconut water comes from young coconuts while ripe fruit are used for coconut milk.
The most delicious coconut water is called Kokovita
Our organic Kokovita coconut water comes from a select region in the very heart of Thailand, surrounded by two of the country’s biggest rivers. We hunted down the very best coconuts, and eventually settled on the Nam Hom variety. Nam Hom coconuts are completely unique, thanks to their exceptional fragrance and sweetness. The combination of abundant rains, fertile lands rich in essential minerals and year-round sun make this a very special place and give our Nam Hom coconuts their utterly delicious flavour.
Kokovita coconut water is Fair Trade coconut water
Kokovita coconuts have always been 100% Fair Trade – Fair Trade-certified and bearing the Fair for Life logo. And we’re very proud of that fact, because it means that Kokovita is contributing to a world where the people and their environment enjoy a positive and sustainable relationship with each other. The Fair for Life logo represents respect for humans and their rights, promoting biodiversity and sustainable agricultural practices and the betterment of the local impact in terms of both the environment and the conditions of the people involved.

Unpasteurised and straight from the coconut
Our coconut water is 100% natural. It is not heated to pasteurise it, keeping its taste genuine, and it is not pasteurised at high pressure and low temperatures, which means it does not have that fake pink colour. Its simply pure, in its original coconut and completely unprocessed. That’s Kokovita coconut water. So what are the benefits? We retain the natural protection of the coconut so that the coconut water it contains is naturally aseptic and raw. That means the flavour and fragrance are perfectly retained, and you can taste the difference too.
Kokovita coconut water is an easy to open coconut
Thanks to the patented easy-to-open system, you can drink our coconut water just like you drink a can of soda. The easy-to-open mechanism is made of coconut fibre and resin. You can now enjoy your coconut water wherever you are – just remove the tab, insert the supplied straw into the coconut… and enjoy! Fresh coconut water, just like you and Mother Nature intended. Say goodbye to knives and any other dangerous tool you use to get inside the coconut!
Why does Kokovita wrap its organic coconuts in film?
Each coconut is packaged in a micro-perforated, anti-condensation high-tech film made of fully recyclable polyolefin. There is 92% less plastic in the coconut’s high-tech wrapping than there is in a plastic bottle.
Kokovita coconut water is contained in young coconuts, packed with sweet water, minerals and vitamins and jelly-like flesh. At this stage of its lifecycle the shell is highly porous and the coconut is breathing. The film stops the coconut water from fermenting and the breathing capacity is lowered so that the sweet water will not turn sour before its expiry date. Kokovita water must however be stored at under 7 °C.
The film also protects the coconut against contamination from outside sources, inhibiting the growth of moulds on the shell. This means we do not have to use those awful chemicals that are so often used for preserving and transporting coconuts.
Why is the Kokovita coconut placed on a cardboard ring?
The cardboard ring protects the weak spots in the bottom of the coconut from knocks and bumps while being shipped. The underneath of a coconut is its most sensitive spot. The cardboard ring also makes the coconut more stable and allows us to give you information, such as the nutritional value of the coconut water, its expiry date and our certificates. The cardboard ring is made of recycled material and is in turn recyclable.
Kokovita coconuts come with a straw
While our present straw is made from polypropylene – and is recyclable – it is not our first environmentally-conscious choice. And so, under the philosophy that Rome wasn’t built in a day, we are working on replacing it. Over the course of 2019 – and maybe even earlier – our straws will be 100% compostable. The Kokovita team will also continue working on creating 100% compostable packaging in the future.
